There are plenty of unknowns in Alaska's backcountry. Flights may need to be rescheduled due to inclement weather or other circumstances. This section reviews our cancellation policy and hopefully answers some of your questions. 

Flight Confirmations

To hold a date/time for a flight we request 100% of the payment upfront to hold the reservation. 

Cancellations & Refunds

If a flight is canceled by Nick's Air Service or due to weather, a full refund will be issued. 

Flights canceled by the customer within 90 days of the date of travel will not receive a refund. Flights canceled outside of the 90-day window will receive a 50% refund.

Will I fit?

We have two different aircraft to meet your flight needs. Flight capacity is primarily determined by weight. As mentioned in our services page, our PA-18 Super Cub can hold one passenger and gear totaling up to 335 pounds. Our Cessna 185 can hold a maximum of 5 passengers with a total weight of 1,000 pounds depending on configuration. We pack our planes strategically to fit the gear you need and distribute the weight appropriately. Packing your belongings in soft and malleable containers/bags makes this easier.

Where do you fly to?

Alaska is a big state and bush planes can reach a lot of places. Fill out a quote request and let us know where you want to go. If we feel it is outside of our services we will gladly refer you to alternative resources. 

What should I see?

There are so many great things to see in the backcountry. Here are some of our favorites:

  • Prince William Sound: This is not in the Royal Family, but it is definitely a dignified sight to see. Prince William Sound is made up of fjords in the Gulf of Alaska on the east side of the Kenai Peninsula. The largest port is Valdez, home of the southern terminus of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System. 

  • Knik River & Glacier: The Knik Arm is a waterway into the northwestern part of the Gulf of Alaska. It is one of two narrow branches of the Cook Inlet (the other being Turnagain Arm). The Knik Glacier is vast, bright, bold and beautiful, and just a short flight from home base. 

  • Chugach Mountain Range: Views like these are hard to come by but easy to fly by! The Chugach Mountains of south-central Alaska are the northernmost of the several mountain ranges that make up the Pacific Coast Ranges and our home base is nestled at the base of these beautiful mountains.
